Thank you for the link to Rabot Estate, it was very interesting. I went to St Lucia in 1980, long before the estate began its chocolate enterprise and before the island was so populated with hotels.
We hired a mini-jeep and drove around the island on the dirt tracks that passed for roads, visiting the volcano and passing through small villages.
Near one village, some children were eating corn, which they offered to share, and sucking the sweet white sticky goo from around cocoa beans after which, they told us, they would sell the beans to the chocolate factory!
